About Me

Specialist PR consultant, Kerry McDuling has a unique ‘working smarter’ approach

Kerry McDuling is a public relations specialist with over 15 years’ experience, working at a management and operational level with local, national and international organisations and leaders, both at start-up level and established.

Client sectors have included business, real estate and real estate adjacent, technology (AI), not-for-profit organisations, book publicity and lifestyle.

Additional consulting roles I have held alongside my business include:

  • Editor for the quarterly Australian Federal Police Association (AFPA) magazine, “Blue Star”
  • Media Manager – World Junior Speed Skating Championships – Melbourne 2012
  • Author – educational texts for high school, and most recently “How to do your own Book Publicity”

Prior to starting her niche PR business in 2008, Kerry was the National Communications Manager for an international franchise organisation. She was responsible for managing and implementing the internal and external communications strategies for all of the facets of their business, including for the franchisees around the country, the national calendar and events, property management department, building expert thought leadership status of the CEOs in each State, and more.

As a senior public relations specialist, my skills include public relations campaign creation and implementation. I develop publicity campaigns and thought leadership initiatives that require empowering understanding to craft (and then pitch) story pitches, media releases and articles.

How is publicity charged/quoted?

I quote per project or monthly retainer. I don’t charge per hour, because I prefer to quote on the value of the activity, and then you will always know what to expect to budget and the final total won’t balloon out unexpectedly.

What media should we target?

This depends on your objectives and your audience. Whatever media your audience consumes, is what media we target.

Does your locality matter?

Like most businesses we do today, my location doesn’t matter at all. Almost all of my clients I will never meet personally, and this isn’t necessary either.

I specialise in the Australian market, and have media contacts in some other countries too. Most of my clients are based in Australia, and I also work with other clients and PR agencies overseas too, who want to make an impact here in Australia and want to work with someone who understands the landscape and local nuances.
